Cold air strengthens, heavy rain forecast for the next 2 days

The meteorological agency warned that due to the impact of the strengthening cold air, the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh will have localized heavy rain in the next 2 days.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently (January 15), cold air has affected the Northeast region and some places in the North Central region. The Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 9.

During the day and night of January 15, cold air continues to affect other areas in the North Central, Northwest and Central Central regions. Northeast winds inland are strong at level 3, coastal areas at level 3-4, with gusts of level 6 in some places.

The Northern region and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue continue to be cold, the mountainous areas of the North are very cold, with some places experiencing severe cold.

The Northern region has the lowest temperature of about 11 - 14 degrees Celsius, mountainous areas 8 - 11 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas have places below 7 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 15 - 17 degrees Celsius; mountainous areas 12 - 14 degrees Celsius, some places below 12 degrees Celsius.

High mountain areas are prone to frost, ice and hoarfrost. Severe cold, frost, ice and hoarfrost can affect crops and livestock.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue has the lowest temperature of about 14 - 17 degrees Celsius; the average temperature is about 17 - 19 degrees Celsius.

From Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh from January 15 to 16, there is forecast to be rain, showers, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. Thunderstorms are likely to cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

Localized heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

The Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have the lowest temperature commonly 9 - 12 degrees Celsius, the Northern mountainous region 6 - 9 degrees Celsius, the high mountainous region has some places below 5 degrees Celsius. The average temperature commonly is 15 - 17 degrees Celsius; the Northern mountainous region 12 - 14 degrees Celsius, some places below 10 degrees Celsius.

The area from Ha Tinh to Hue has the lowest temperature of 14 - 17 degrees Celsius; average temperature of 17 - 19 degrees Celsius.
