On the morning of May 25, Mr. Tran Quang Trung - Chairman of Cat Tien 3 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) - said that the locality is mobilizing many forces to overcome the consequences of heavy rain and tornadoes that occurred on the night of May 24.

Accordingly, at about 9 pm on May 24, heavy rain and tornadoes lasted for more than 2 hours on a large scale in the commune, causing people to not have time to respond.

Initial statistics show that heavy rain and tornadoes blew off the roofs of 8 houses and 3 auxiliary works of people in many villages; and completely collapsed the roofing and lighting system of a school in the area.

In particular, tornadoes caused more than 37ha of durian to be broken, uprooted and fruited, with damage of about 70% of the area.

Heavy rain and tornadoes cause very serious damage, the biggest damage is to people's crops. Currently, people's durian is being prepared for harvest, so the damage is very serious. The initial total damage caused by heavy rain and tornadoes is estimated at about 8 billion VND," Mr. Trung said.

Currently, Cat Tien 3 Commune People's Committee is mobilizing all forces including police, militia, associations, and unions to focus on supporting people to overcome the consequences; and at the same time, statistics of damage to propose to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to have a plan to support and help people soon stabilize their lives.
