On the afternoon of May 4, leaders of Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that the locality is urgently supporting people to overcome the consequences of tornadoes, and at the same time statistically assessing damage to propose to higher levels for support plans.

According to local authorities, heavy rain accompanied by tornadoes that occurred on the afternoon of May 2nd caused serious damage to people's crops.
Initial statistics show that natural disasters broke and uprooted 87 durian trees from 4 to 10 years old of 8 households.

In which, Mr. Nguyen Nam's household suffered the heaviest damage with 20 trees knocked down; Mr. Nguyen Van Nhi's household lost 18 trees; Mr. Nguyen Doan Hung had 15 trees; Mr. Phung Cong Ich had 13 trees broken and fallen. The remaining households suffered damage from 3 to 8 trees.

Not only causing trees to fall, the tornado also caused dozens of tons of developing durian to fall in large numbers. The total estimated damage is nearly 1 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Nam said that his family has 20 grafted durian trees over 10 years old that were completely uprooted, along with about 5 tons of fruit that fell. "Durian is about to enter the harvest season, considering it a total loss after this tornado," Mr. Nam said sadly.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong - Vice Chairman of Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee, informed that the locality has been and is mobilizing forces to support people to clear gardens, overcome damage, and at the same time prepare a report to send to the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and branches to consider financial support.

According to local leaders, early support policies will help people stabilize their lives and gradually restore production after natural disasters.
