In the past time, some localities reflected that due to high fuel prices, collection and transportation units did not ensure the frequency of collection.
To ensure environmental sanitation and limit the impact on people's lives in daily activities and production, especially during the upcoming rainy and storm season, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Tho City requests the People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen direction, not to let garbage congestion occur, affecting people's health and urban aesthetics.
For localities with landfills/landfills for domestic solid waste, the Department requests the People's Committees of communes and wards to be the investors, owners and managers of landfills for domestic solid waste, and requests to strengthen the management and operation of landfills to ensure waste control to prevent it from spreading to the environment.
Localities must regularly spray biological deodorizing products and insects to prevent the spread of odors, leachate... affecting people's health and daily life.
Along with that, localities proactively strengthen the management, operation and control of wastewater, odor, insect... generation; forecast and set up funds to strengthen environmental incident prevention and response in the upcoming rainy and storm season... (some suggested contents: leveling, bulldozing waste periodically, creating beds, collecting waste neatly... ).
Localities review, evaluate and develop plans to renovate and overcome environmental pollution for the volume of accumulated waste; calculate the capacity and reception time of landfills after renovation; proactively balance and use the environmental career funding allocated to localities to prioritize the implementation of environmental renovation and remediation solutions at landfills...
Or propose and recommend coordination with localities to carry out collection and transportation to landfills in the managed area to propose a plan to regulate waste in case the landfill is overloaded and no longer has the ability to receive it.
