The central road of Ba Dinh district is flooded with garbage.
For many years, the area at the beginning of lane 36 Giang Van Minh street, Ba Dinh district has become a collection point for waste and construction materials.
According to local residents, although it is part of the Nui Truc - Son Tay road upgrade project, due to slow construction progress, this area has been encroached upon, causing loss of urban beauty and affecting the surrounding living environment.
According to reporters on January 7, garbage and construction materials were scattered haphazardly at the project area.
Speaking with Lao Dong, a waste collector of Urenco 1 (Ba Dinh branch) said that although environmental sanitation workers have been collecting waste regularly, household waste is still being thrown around in the area.
The reason why littering has not been completely resolved is because alley 36 is located on the border between Doi Can and Kim Ma wards, making it difficult to unify management.
"The People's Committee of Doi Can Ward has put up warning signs prohibiting dumping of garbage and waste, but garbage is still thrown everywhere, with sand and rocks piled up everywhere," said a garbage collector from Urenco 1.
In addition to the situation of garbage and construction materials being haphazardly collected here, Mr. Le Vu Hieu (residing in alley 36 Giang Van Minh street) reported that every day, hundreds of cars come and go, stopping and parking haphazardly, making the alley cramped and making it difficult for people to move around.
According to the reporter's observation, not only are there households living there, this area also has many apartment buildings and office buildings, so the number of people and vehicles is extremely crowded.
The road surface and houses are almost completely occupied because of the rampant parking of vehicles.
Difficult to handle because the site has not been handed over yet
According to the investigation, the project to expand Nui Truc - Son Tay road is managed by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. However, the project is stuck in the land clearance, making it impossible for the investor to hand over to the locality.
Many project sites have been encroached upon by people to build factories and scrap yards, making the situation even more messy and polluted.
It is known that the project to open the Nui Truc - Son Tay road was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2008. In 2013, the project officially started construction.
Meanwhile, the Ke Khe canal sewer project is part of the Nui Truc - Son Tay road construction project, but after 16 years of implementation, the construction of this canal has only been partially completed and has caused pollution for a long time.
Regarding the above-mentioned problems, according to Vice Chairman of Kim Ma Ward People's Committee - Vu Dai Thang, the project has not been handed over to the local government, making it very difficult to manage and handle violations. The local government has also mobilized forces many times to collect garbage, waste and rectify parking that obstructs traffic in this area.
