Mr. Dao Hoang Tuan in Vien Binh commune (Tran De district, Soc Trang province) said that most of the local people live on agriculture and have little opportunity to travel by car. Many seriously ill patients have to be transported by motorbike, which is not only unsafe for the patients but also wastes their precious time. Therefore, Mr. Tuan has long cherished the desire to buy an ambulance to serve the poor for free, and will do so when he has the means.
Mr. Tuan informed that in May 2024, from his family's savings and support from benefactors of more than 100 million VND, he bought a used 9-seat car for 520 million VND and converted it into an ambulance.
After completing the registration procedures, Mr. Tuan assigned his younger brother to be the main driver. Since then, the volunteer car has transported dozens of poor patients to medical facilities in a timely manner.
“Regardless of day or night, rain or shine, near or far, whenever we receive a call from the people, we are there to promptly transport the patient to the hospital. All I can do is receive my salary with a thank you and a smile, and I don’t ask for anything more,” Mr. Tuan said with a smile.
Dao Hoang Tuan's family is in the rice milling business. During peak times, they are also busy delivering goods everywhere, but Mr. Tuan is always ready to support people. "If I am about to deliver goods and someone needs to go to the hospital urgently, I tell my younger brother to temporarily put aside his work to help people," Mr. Tuan shared.
Mr. Thach Luon - Head of the Front Committee of Dao Vien Hamlet (Vien Binh Commune, Tran De District, Soc Trang Province) - said: "Mr. Tuan helps many people, especially the poor. In my family, there is an elderly person who suffered from a stroke and was promptly supported by Mr. Tuan. I myself also have the intention of calling for the establishment of a fund to carry out local charity activities with Mr. Tuan", said Mr. Thach Luon.
It is known that Mr. Dao Hoang Tuan also opened a coffin shop to support the poor. In the past 3 years, he has supported over 200 coffins and burial items for the poor in the locality when they passed away. He also supports wheelchairs and beds for the elderly who have difficulty moving.
Many philanthropists have also contributed money to join Mr. Tuan in doing charity work. This resource has been made public on his personal Zalo account to ensure transparency, contributing to maintaining the effectiveness of the charity work that he has been involved in for many years.
With meaningful and practical work, Mr. Dao Hoang Tuan has been recognized and rewarded by all levels and sectors for studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle as well as for his contributions and support for social security work in the locality.
