Police support citizens to reunite with their families after more than 30 years of separation

Thu Giang |

Local police forces have supported people to reunite with their families; returned lost property thanks to the VNeID application.

According to the Ministry of Public Security's electronic information portal, after more than 30 years of separation and complete loss of contact with her family while living abroad, Ms. N.T. K. D recently found her relatives thanks to the timely support of Hien Quan Commune Police (Phu Tho province).

Previously, on April 3, 2026, Hien Quan Commune Police received a request from Ms. N.T. K. D for support in finding her family. At the headquarters, Ms. D presented a passport issued by the Vietnamese Embassy in China.

According to the presentation, she left the locality in 1988, and in 1991 emigrated to China and has lived there to this day. During her life in China, Ms. N.T. K. D did not have any papers related to entry and exit or residence abroad, so she was not allowed to reside by the Chinese side; she had to ask for the help of the Vietnamese Embassy in China to be issued a passport to return to Vietnam. When she returned to Vietnam, Ms. D only remembered her hometown at the old address, Hien Quan commune (Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province).

Immediately after receiving it, Hien Quan Commune Police urgently conducted verification, information collection, and coordinated to review in the area. The police force has collected information, coordinated to review the population data system, and at the same time compared it with archived documents from many periods.

The verification process was carried out carefully and accurately to avoid confusion because the initial information provided by Ms. D was very limited. With positivity and responsibility, after a short time, Hien Quan Commune Police identified the relatives of Ms. N.T. K. D currently residing in the commune.

The unit proactively contacted, informed and invited the family to the headquarters to welcome her back for reunion. The meeting took place in an emotional atmosphere, marking the return of a child away from home after more than 30 years of separation.
