On the afternoon of August 29, Kien Giang Provincial Police held a ceremony to honor outstanding individuals in the 2024 voluntary blood donation movement among the entire provincial police force. 56 outstanding cadres, union members, and youth in the voluntary blood donation movement were honored at the ceremony.
Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Quoc - Head of the Youth Department of Kien Giang Provincial Police - said that in 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, the unit organized 3 voluntary blood donation campaigns among the police force in the whole province, resulting in 1,060 units of blood.
To make the movement more in-depth and effective, every year, the Provincial Police Youth Union advises the Party Committee and leaders of the Provincial Police to direct and implement blood donation campaigns and organize voluntary blood donation activities.
Actively promote and raise awareness among union members and young people about the blood donation movement to save lives, promptly propose commendations and rewards for groups and individuals with many contributions to the voluntary blood donation movement.
The activity has created a wide spread, contributing significantly to the blood reserve to serve emergency and timely treatment for patients at the Provincial General Hospital and medical facilities.
In addition to the concentrated blood donation campaigns, every year, the grassroots youth unions and the Youth Union of the District and City Police also organize blood donation campaigns between the concentrated blood donation campaigns to meet the blood shortage needs of patients.
"In particular, the Provincial Police Youth Union also has a permanent force ready to donate blood in emergency cases. Whenever receiving calls from hospitals requesting blood support, union members and youth are always present in time, ensuring blood supply to serve the treatment of patients," Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Quoc added.
Colonel Le Van Quy - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police - also suggested: In order to successfully complete the voluntary blood donation program in the coming time, Party Committees and leaders of units continue to pay attention, encourage and create conditions for comrades who directly donate blood to have reasonable rest time, ensuring health to serve work and combat.
The Provincial Police Youth Union and Youth Union officials must be exemplary and responsible in taking the lead in participating in the Voluntary Blood Donation Program. Closely coordinate with the Provincial Police Clinic, the Department of Hematology and Blood Transfusion - Provincial General Hospital, and the Provincial Red Cross to do a good job of screening and collecting blood, completing the assigned targets in 2024.
