Learning English through practice, communication
In order to create a useful learning environment, helping children have more conditions to practice foreign languages during the summer, the Youth Union of Tan Hung Ward, Hai Phong organizes a free English class for children in 2026. The activity not only helps children get acquainted with and practice English but also creates a healthy and practical playground during the summer vacation.
The course has 50 students, divided into 2 parallel classes. Students are directly taught by Vietnamese teachers and foreign teachers of Ocean Edu English Center, with content suitable for their age, focusing on practice and training English communication skills.
Instead of just focusing on theoretical knowledge, the program focuses on practice and enhancing communication skills. Through the sessions, students have the opportunity to use English directly, practice listening, speaking and be bolder when communicating.

The course lasts for 6 weeks, organizing one session per week, lasting about 1 hour. Currently, the class has entered its 5th week and is expected to end next week.
Teacher Paul Vincent Cabuguang Forton, who directly teaches, said that in the learning process, the progress of the students is quite clear. From simple initial knowledge, students are guided on basic communication skills, how to recognize and name familiar objects in English.
“We have taught them simple knowledge such as basic communication skills, how to recognize and name objects in English, such as body parts, weather and some activities” - teacher Paul Vincent Cabuguang Forton shared.
According to teacher Paul Vincent Cabuguang Forton, what is noteworthy is not only the knowledge they absorb but also the diligence, enthusiasm and regular participation spirit. The fact that they maintain studying every week shows their interest in English and creates conditions for the knowledge learned to gradually become practical skills.

Towards more free classes
Sharing about the implementation process, Ms. Pham Thi Minh Nguyet - Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Hung ward said that to bring information to the right people, the ward Youth Union not only propagates on the information channels of the ward and the Youth Union organization but also directly contacts schools in the area.
Schools become a bridge to inform parents. Families who need to have their children participate in free classes will register through teachers, then the information is summarized for the Ward Youth Union to make a list of students.

According to Ms. Nguyet, the class is part of the program implemented by the Hai Phong City Youth Union. Previously, the City Youth Union proactively connected with training units to bring the program to localities. When there was an opportunity to implement it, the Tan Hung Ward Youth Union proactively grasped it to organize classes for children in the area.
Not simply aiming to organize an English course, the Tan Hung Ward Youth Union aims to build more appropriate activities so that children have a safe, useful summer and have more skills.
In fact, besides English classes, the Ward Youth Union is also organizing a swimming class for children. These activities are implemented in the direction of creating conditions for children to both study and train physically and skillfully during the summer vacation.
In the coming time, the Ward Youth Union will also link with other companion units, trying to organize more free classes for children, not only stopping at English classes and swimming classes but possibly life skills classes, martial arts classes" - Ms. Nguyet said.
From a free English class, the Tan Hung Ward Youth Union hopes to expand more practical activities for children.
Through this, students not only have more opportunities to access foreign languages but also train skills, develop confidence and have more positive experiences in the summer.
