On the afternoon of December 17, Lai Chau Provincial Police announced that the incident occurred on the evening of December 16. Accordingly, at around 10 p.m. the same day, Nam Xe Commune Police (Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province) received a report that D. (a preschool student) had gone missing after returning home from school.
Immediately after receiving the information, Nam Xe Commune Police quickly deployed forces to the scene and determined that the search area was a dangerous area with steep hills and deep ravines, while the night temperature dropped to only about 6 degrees Celsius.
Realizing this was an emergency, the commune police reported to their superiors and mobilized 100 people including police officers, soldiers, border guards and local residents to coordinate the search through the night.
After 10 hours of searching, at 7:30 this morning (December 17), D. was found at the foot of the mountain about 1 km from his house. At the time of discovery, D. was in poor health, had many scratches and was in a state of panic.
The authorities and family have taken D. home to care for him. Currently, his health and mental state have gradually stabilized.
