Festival of hundreds of households in mountainous district
Muong Ang District, Dien Bien Province has just held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Rural Electricity Supply Project from the National Grid in Chan 3 Village, Ngoi Cay Commune. This is one of the projects under the “Light Up Dien Bien” Program with a total investment of about 2 trillion VND.
The program “Lighting up Dien Bien” is highly anticipated by tens of thousands of people with faith and hope for a bright future. After many years of living with kerosene lamps, now 86 households with more than 450 people in Chan 3 village, Ngoi Cay commune, Muong Ang district are facing a very close opportunity to enjoy a more modern life.
Mr. Ly A Chu - Chan 3 village could not hide his joy and said: "If there is electricity, there will be many opportunities for development. Life without electricity is really difficult. Without light, many jobs we can only do during the day."
Mr. Chu recalled that since 2013, his family had to invest about 5 million VND in a solar energy system to meet their electricity needs. However, the frequent replacement of batteries at high costs caused many difficulties, so few families dared to invest.
Ms. Ly Thi Cha - owner of the only grocery store in Chan 3 village - said: "More than a year ago, my family had to invest 15 million VND to buy a generator for daily life and business. Now that there is electricity, my family will buy a TV, rice cooker and many other electronic devices."
Mr. Ly A Sy - Head of Chan 3 village said: "The village has been established for more than 40 years but still has no electricity. The lack of electricity makes all activities inconvenient. The main light sources are firewood, oil lamps, generators and only in recent years have solar lights been available."
In Muong Ang district, there are currently 542 households in 12 villages and residential clusters of 7 communes that have not yet used the national grid. The "Light Up Dien Bien" program in Muong Ang district has been approved for a total investment of more than 100 billion VND to build 11 medium-voltage power lines with a length of nearly 27 km; 11 transformer stations and more than 24 km of low-voltage power lines.
Many villages will have electricity before Tet
According to Mr. To Trong Thien - Chairman of Muong Ang District People's Committee, the project's progress target will be to connect and energize the transformer stations in Chan 3 village, Nam Cum village, Ngoi Cay commune and Huoi Hao village, Ang To commune before Lunar New Year 2025.
