Temple in Bac Ninh receives nearly 38 billion VND in donations

The relic management board does not have a bank account

In the first days of the 2025 lunar year, many people and tourists from all over the world come to Ba Chua Kho Temple, in Co Me area, Vu Ninh ward (Bac Ninh city) to visit, pray for fortune, and pray for good luck.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's festival took place solemnly, safely, and security and order were guaranteed.

According to the reporter's records, the temple has 3 areas with many reception tables for donation money. The donation money was received directly by the Relic Management Board and recorded in the book.

While some relics in Bac Ninh province have opened additional bank accounts and created QR Codes to receive donation money online, at Ba Chua Kho Temple, because the Management Board has not established a bank account, this has not been implemented.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Trang - Head of the Ba Chua Kho Temple Relic Management Board said that the largest number of visitors to the relic site was in January, the peak day of about 7,000 visitors.

"In January, the amount of donations per day is about 20 - 30 million VND. This amount was counted and compiled at the end of the day. The next day, we will take it to the bank. The festival will be summarized after the month," said Mr. Nguyen Van Trang.

The Head of the Ba Chua Kho Temple Relic Management Board added that the donation money was then mainly used for the purpose of restoration and upgrading the relic.

How is the donation money used?

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Le Van Thu - Vice Chairman of Vu Ninh Ward People's Committee, Head of the Ba Chua Kho Temple Festival Organizing Committee said that every year, the Ba Chua Kho Temple Relic Management Board has a report on the festival organization, including finance.

There is currently no report for 2025. According to the 2024 report, the total amount of donations at the Ba Chua Kho Temple relic is more than 16.5 billion VND.

The above amount of money is used for 3 main purposes.

The first is to spend more than 2.5 billion VND to restore and embellish relics; the second is to spend more than 5.7 billion VND for festival activities (including spending on training the festival management and direct operation forces, security teams, forces participating in festival management including about 700 elderly people in the locality); the other is more than 3.2 billion VND (supporting local activities such as encouraging learning, encouraging talents, volunteer work...)

"The remaining amount will be recorded in a savings book by the Relic Management Board, with the Head of the Relic Management Board's name and deposit at the bank," said the Vice Chairman of Vu Ninh Ward People's Committee.

In 2023, the amount of donations at Ba Chua Kho Temple was more than 21.4 billion VND. Of which, 17.5 billion VND was spent to repair degraded items at the temple and purchase incense lamps, paying members on duty.

According to Mr. Le Van Thu, the counting and management of donation money at Ba Chua Kho Temple is carried out by the Relic Management Board.

The People's Committee of Vu Ninh Ward does not directly participate in the counting and management but only receives information through written reports from the Relic Management Board on the organization of the festival.

Regarding the fact that the Ba Chua Kho Temple Relic Management Board has not yet opened a bank account, the Vice Chairman of the Vu Ninh Ward People's Committee said that partly because the members of the Management Board are old and have limitations in procedures related to finance and technology.

"The ward has sent a document requesting the Relic Management Board to create a bank account, in the coming time we will continue to urge", said Mr. Le Van Thu.
