At around 1:00 p.m. on September 8, in the residential area of Hoa Su Pan 1 village, Muong Hoa commune, Sa Pa town, a landslide occurred from a high mountain, sweeping down onto 4 households with 26 people at the foot of the hill.Immediately after the landslide, the rescue force of Sa Pa town arrived at the scene with local people to search and rescue the buried victims.Through verification by the People's Committee of Sa Pa town, up to now, 5 people have been confirmed dead, 1 person is missing and being searched for, 9 injured people are being treated at the hospital. It is predicted that many locations will still have a high risk of landslides.A large amount of rock and soil suddenly collapsed on the house, leaving people unable to react in time.The car, a valuable asset of the people, was overturned by the devastation of the landslide.Close-up of a landslide that buried 5 people in a house.Sa Pa town mobilized over 140 people to search for missing people, support people in moving their belongings, and overcome the consequences in the landslide area, of which over 100 people were from the police, army, and militia to support rescue efforts."At the same time, a Town Command Center will be established at the Town People's Committee Headquarters and a Search and Rescue Command Center on-site in Muong Hoa commune near the landslide area; a medical support team with ambulances, medicine and doctors will be set up," informed Sa Pa Town People's Committee Chairman To Ngoc Lien.The atmosphere of devastation, grief and loss are what remains in the villages of the foggy land of Sa Pa after the terrible landslide. The damage in Sa Pa is estimated at about 2.8 billion VND.The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province went to the scene of the landslide to visit, encourage and offer condolences to the families of the victims.
