Born in 2008 in Hanoi, currently living and studying in grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City, Cao Viet Quynh started writing novels at the age of 9, won the 2022 Vietnam National Book Award and is the youngest author in Vietnam to receive this award.
With the new novel "Dragon Continent", Cao Viet Quynh continues to maintain the writing style that combines two elements of fantasy and science fiction, bringing a modern atmosphere and youthful spirit into this work.
Turning each chapter of the novel, readers can meet characters from Greek, Roman, Northern European, Egyptian mythology... along with very familiar characters from Vietnamese legends and folklore such as Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh, Au Lac people...
With a large number of characters up to hundreds, mainly describing action scenes and dialogues, young writer Cao Viet Quynh shows writing techniques as well as mature artistic thinking beyond his age.
It is not easy to build a plot, structure, develop, create the shape, unique features, and personality of each character, but Cao Viet Quynh handled it gently and breathed new life into the existing molds, mixing magic with science, technology, and engineering.
With a fast pace and many unexpected details, the novel "Dragon Continent" shows the maturity in Cao Viet Quynh's writing in particular and shows that the purely Vietnamese fantasy genre has more positive signs in general.
Not only for children, "Dragon Continent" also targets readers who are interested in, support, and encourage new creative trends, creating conditions for access to contemporary world literature, meeting the expectations of Vietnamese literature to go far and reach high.
“When I write, I can create my own world. I can imagine, lead the characters, and control everything in the story,” said writer Cao Viet Quynh.
