The first line is a group of subjects operating in the Tam Thai Tu area, Ba Vet city, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. From May 2024 to now, this gang has appropriated nearly 1,000 billion VND from more than 13,000 victims nationwide.
On January 22, Bac Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with forces of the Ministry of Public Security and other sectors and localities to destroy and arrest nearly 60 subjects.
These criminals use the trick of impersonating police, tax officials, electricity officials, and education officials to call victims and ask them to update their citizen identification information, submit online admission applications, have health check-ups, declare taxes, etc., then take over the phone and steal money from the victims' bank accounts.
The second ring is also an international criminal gang led by a Chinese national, under the guise of DH889 Company, headquartered in Kim Sa 2 area (Cambodia).
From August 2024 to present, the subjects of DH889 Company have defrauded 1,800 billion VND from 800 Vietnamese victims. On January 26, the Criminal Police Department, Da Nang City Police informed that they had just dismantled this criminal organization and prosecuted 6 defendants.
The authorities have dismantled two high-tech fraud rings, contributing to preventing cybercrime. Honest people are surrounded and stalked by criminals, and if they lose their vigilance, they will lose their money and property. Therefore, eliminating a gang will create more safety for the people, and protect them from the risk of being scammed.
Speaking at the commendation ceremony for the force that dismantled the cross-border fraud group on January 27, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan praised the achievements of the provincial police officers and soldiers and affirmed that this was an outstanding feat. At the same time, he urged the police force to continue to promote its sense of responsibility, contributing to ensuring security, social order and safety, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
The police will continue to crack down on criminal gangs to protect the people, but people must know how to protect themselves. The scams have been reported by the press and warned by authorities, but many people are still gullible and easily fall into the trap.
Each individual and organization must equip themselves with knowledge and skills to "survive" in cyberspace.
