President Trump may exempt tax reductions for many countries

US President Donald Trump said he could exempt more countries from tariffs as the deadline for imposing counterpart tariffs on US trade partners is approaching.

"I can exempt and reduce taxes for many countries, but this is based on the view of getting it back," Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on March 24.

He noted that the European Union (EU) has agreed to reduce auto tariffs to 2.5% under the agreement with the US.

President Donald Trump also revealed that his administration will announce a number of additional tariffs in the next few days, related to cars, saffron, etc.

The US President emphasized: "In general, February 2 will be a big day, a day for the policy to return, and we will get back some of the money that should have belonged to the US."

Earlier in the day, President Donal Trump announced on social media that he would impose a 25% tax on any country that purchases oil and/or gas from Venezuela, accusing the Latin American country of bringing "tens of thousands" of criminals to the United States.

When asked by a reporter whether the 25% rate would be applied at the same rate as the current rate, Mr. Trump replied "years".
