Many people heard the advertisement that they would work in Russia, that they would have good jobs and benefits, so they sold their assets to get money to go work abroad. But the reality is not as advertised, the workers face many difficulties, hardships, hard work, low income, not to mention being betrayed, pressured, and "bullied" by employers.
Being cheated because I don't have to work 8 hours a day but work 16 hours a day; I only get one day off at the end of the month.
Went all the way to Russia to work for a living, but the employer did not pay the salary as previously committed by the recruiting unit. The salary was only 6 million VND/person/month, but was deducted for accommodation of about 4 million VND/person/month.
Saying "forced" is because the business owner forced him to work overtime until 3-4 am.
The reason for being "bullied" is because when Vietnamese workers could not survive and wanted to return home, the business owner said that whoever wanted to return had to have 70 million VND to complete the procedures. Fortunately, the Vietnamese community in Russia supported the workers with information to complete the procedures to return home. The cost of the return trip also cost 30 million VND.
Disillusioned with the dream of working abroad, they returned home empty-handed and in debt. They had no money or assets left because they had sold them to "invest" in the trip. So is it the workers' fault? Is it because they did not work well and were not productive?
It is not like that, but because they were "abandoned" by two consulting and recruiting units. They went to Russia to work without protection or support, and were left to the mercy of the business owner, with salaries and working hours not as promised.
The two consulting units are Long Hung International Joint Stock Company and Vinaco International Human Resources Cooperation Joint Stock Company.
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tua Chua district, the district organized a working session on September 6, 2024, but the recruitment consulting unit was not present.
Many other localities organize labor export very effectively, workers have good income, are supported to protect their rights and interests according to the contract. That is because consulting and recruitment units work responsibly with workers, and have prestige with partners.
As for the case of workers in Dien Bien who suffered losses and returned home empty-handed, it was because they were "abandoned".
Local authorities must be responsible for resolving and returning justice to workers.
