The good news is that now, Hanoi people no longer have to queue from 4-5 am at the gate of the Department of Justice to complete procedures for issuing criminal records like in early April 2024 and before.
To achieve this, Hanoi and the Ministry of Justice have implemented many solutions. One of the revolutionary solutions is to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to pilot the issuance of criminal records on VNeID in Hanoi and Thua Thien-Hue.
This solution has been more effective than expected, as of August 26, the total number of criminal records issued online in Hanoi was more than 46,000 (Thua Thien-Hue more than 5,000).
Thanks to that, Hanoi residents no longer have to queue and can sit anywhere, do not need to go to the Department of Justice but can still apply for a criminal record.
That is just one of many utilities from the "8 outstanding groups" that people have benefited from using the Government's online public services in recent times.
These benefits are clearly demonstrated through the figures presented at the national online conference on “Improving the efficiency of providing and using online public services” , held on August 31 in Da Nang.
Notably, from 2021 to present, nearly 3,000 business regulations have been reduced and simplified; nearly 700 administrative procedures have been decentralized to localities.
Currently, 43/53 essential online public services have been deployed; of which 23/25 essential public services according to the Project on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06) have been fully implemented, helping to save the state and society nearly 3,500 billion VND/year.
However, besides the proud results, our online public services in general still have many shortcomings, especially not "covering" enough to the grassroots levels.
This leads to the fact that every citizen or business, even if they only need a phone or computer connected to the internet to carry out administrative procedures online as the set goal, is still a "dream".
Handling administrative procedures through online public service portals is an inevitable trend. It not only helps save time, effort, and reduce paperwork, but also helps eliminate harassment and negativity.
This was also emphasized once again by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the national online conference on "Improving the efficiency of providing and using online public services" on August 31 in Da Nang: "Resolutely eliminate the request-grant mechanism in implementing administrative procedures".
To do this, especially to eliminate the request-grant mechanism in handling administrative procedures, there is still a lot of work to be done. The most important thing is to make more efforts to "cover" more widely online public services to all grassroots levels!
