If at the time of deploying E5 gasoline, there were concerns about quality, operating capacity or fuel consumption, now many people have proactively prepared to experience E10 and welcome it positively.
However, for biofuel to truly develop sustainably, the most important thing is still to create solid market confidence. Because any change related to energy or consumption habits also needs time and clear enough motivation for people and businesses to accompany. Consumers will choose if they find the new fuel safe and cost-effective. Businesses will also boldly invest when there are clear mechanisms, stable markets and policies that are sufficiently encouraging in the long term.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade's proposal of many mechanisms to remove obstacles for businesses, from proposing to allow leasing testing services instead of forcing businesses to self-invest in laboratories, to researching tax policies to create a reasonable difference between bio-gasoline and mineral gasoline... is also to solve this problem.
Reality in many countries shows that clean energy often needs an initial support stage to form a market. As people get used to it, the technology becomes more stable and the scale is large enough, the market will operate more sustainably on its own.
The encouraging point is that this E10 deployment shows that the preparation has been more methodical, from mixing infrastructure, distribution systems to communication about product quality. The fact that many people actively experience and respond positively is also an important foundation for the market to expand in the coming time.
Further, if biofuels are well developed, Vietnam will not only have an additional emission reduction solution but also open up room for raw material agriculture, processing industry and circular economy trends. That is, biofuel is also related to the green growth orientation of the economy.
Currently, the Government has built a fairly clear transition roadmap, with a pilot period before simultaneous deployment, along with initial positive signals from the market and consumers, there is a basis to expect E10 gasoline to create a stable foundation and become a substantial part of the green transition process in Vietnam.
