People with low blood pressure or easy dizziness
Coconut water contains a fairly high amount of potassium, which can support vasodilation and contribute to lowering blood pressure.
According to Ms. Roxana Ehsani, a nutritionist in the US, coconut water helps balance electrolytes but can also slightly lower blood pressure in some sensitive people. Therefore, people who originally have low blood pressure, or have dizziness and lightheadedness when just waking up should be careful. Drinking coconut water in the early morning, when the body has not eaten or drunk anything, can make feelings of fatigue more obvious.
People with kidney disease or needing potassium control
According to recommendations from the National Kidney Foundation, people with chronic kidney disease need to control their potassium intake. A glass of coconut water can provide a significant amount of potassium.
If the kidney functions poorly, ineffective potassium excretion can cause heart rhythm disorders or dangerous complications. Therefore, this group of patients should not drink coconut water regularly, especially in the morning when there is no nutritional balance from other foods.
Experts recommend that for healthy people, coconut water is still a good choice if used in moderation. However, instead of drinking it on an empty stomach, it should be used after a snack to limit the risk of low blood pressure or electrolyte imbalance.
