On September 22, Mr. Nguyen Tien Long - Vice Chairman of Cam Lo Commune People's Committee, Quang Tri province said that the health of all 46 people hospitalized suspected of food poisoning after eating bread in the area has stabilized.
By early afternoon of September 22, 44 patients had been discharged from the hospital. The remaining two cases were discharged in the afternoon of the same day. Thus, all 46 people admitted to the hospital related to the incident have stabilized their health and completed the treatment process at the hospital.
Previously, from September 14 to 15, many people after eating bread at a business establishment in Cua area, Cam Lo commune showed abnormal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea and dehydration.
By 3:00 PM on September 15th, Cam Lo Regional General Hospital had received and treated 46 patients related to the incident.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Long, the bread business related to the incident just opened in the morning, and in the afternoon of the same day, the incident occurred, causing many people to be hospitalized. After the incident, Cam Lo Commune People's Committee held a meeting and directed professional departments to advise on reviewing food business establishments in the area to prevent similar cases.
Mr. Long said that every year, the Commune People's Committee issues documents directing the work of ensuring food safety, and at the same time establishes inspection teams to review food business activities in the area.
Regarding the bread establishment related to the incident, as of September 22, this establishment is still temporarily suspended from operation to serve verification work. Local authorities are waiting for the final conclusion of functional agencies to have a basis for consideration and handling according to regulations.
On the same day, the Quang Tri Provincial Sub-Department of Food Safety confirmed that up to now there are still no test results for food samples and specimens of related cases. Therefore, the cause of 46 people having to be hospitalized after eating bread is still waiting for the specialized agency to determine.
Previously, functional agencies took food samples and specimens from related cases, transferred them for testing to identify the causative agent. At the same time, units inspected the origin of raw materials, processing procedures and food safety assurance conditions at the bread business establishment.
