On average, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital receives about 150 emergency cases per day. This level is equivalent to the 2023 holiday season. The Emergency Department receives about 75 hospitalizations due to traffic accidents per day.
During the holidays, most of the patients with severe multiple injuries were transferred from other hospitals, but there was no sudden increase. The rate of patients admitted to the hospital had a blood alcohol concentration of about 10-15%.
During the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2, the Traffic Police force recorded a decrease in traffic accidents in all 3 criteria, with the largest decrease being the number of deaths. Nationwide, there were 257 traffic accidents, killing 124 people and injuring 193 people. Compared to the 4-day holiday in the same period in 2023, this year the number of accidents decreased by 28 cases (9.82%), 36 deaths (22.5%) and 5 injuries (2.66%).
During the four-day holiday, the national traffic police handled more than 60,300 violations, including more than 16,400 cases of alcohol concentration violations; more than 14,400 cases of speeding violations; 474 cases of overloading; and 64 cases of drug violations.
During the long holidays, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, Ministry of Health has requested to organize emergency care and medical examination and treatment well, ensuring that all emergency patients are examined and treated, and that emergency cases are not refused or delayed.
