At the scientific conference with the theme: "Advances in diagnosing and treating anorectal diseases, combining modern medicine and traditional medicine", Associate Professor, Dr. Le Manh Cuong - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of Tue Tinh Hospital, Chairman of the Vietnam Anorectal Association - said: Anorectal diseases, especially hemorrhoids, are trending to become younger. If before, most patients only appeared after the age of 35, now even cases newly recorded over 10 years old.
The cause comes from an unhealthy lifestyle: eating erratically, eating quickly, liking spicy food, being less active, even having the habit of "holding the phone in the toilet". These seemingly harmless acts are the "perpetrators" causing digestive disorders, loss of male reflection, even necrosis, anorectal infections and requiring surgery. Even hemorrhoids - which are not too complicated - can still leave serious consequences if they are self-treated according to "online tips".

Currently, many hospitals apply a combination of modern medicine and traditional medicine in the treatment of hemorrhoids and anorectal diseases. This approach helps relieve pain, limit recurrence and bring positive treatment effects. After surgery, the patient was also given additional medicine to support recovery and prevent complications.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Manh Cuong said that for the same patient, if modern medicine prescribes surgery, immediately after surgery, traditional medicine methods can be combined to support treatment. In particular, for people with anorectal diseases, traditional medicine soaking is considered to be highly effective, helping to reduce pain, fight inflammation and promote faster recovery.
The use of traditional medicine in the post-operative stage is often safe, cost-effective and has few side effects. However, patients should absolutely not arbitrarily treat according to rumors or advertisements floating on social networks but need to follow the instructions of an anesthesiologist - rectologist - Associate Professor Cuong emphasized.
He also proposed that it is necessary to further promote the role of traditional medicine in people's health care; build a treatment regimen combining traditional medicine and modern medicine; at the same time, promote research, improve professional quality and update medical advances, especially in the field of cancer treatment and nuclear medicine.
