Colonel Nguyen Thanh Van - Deputy Director of the Department of Health (Ministry of Public Security) said that clinical pharmacy is one of the top areas of concern for the health sector, considered a key issue, ensuring the quality of medical examination and treatment. In recent years, clinical pharmacy work has also been directed by the Department of Health in particular and the Ministry of Health in general.
To best implement clinical pharmacy work in general and antibiotic management and use in particular at each unit, it requires the efforts of many components, from the leadership to the staff of departments and offices, especially the team of pharmacists and clinical pharmacists. At the same time, to use drugs safely, reasonably and effectively, minimizing medical incidents, actively implementing clinical pharmacy activities at hospitals is extremely necessary.
Since 2020, the Government has issued Decree 131/2020/ND-CP regulating the organization of clinical pharmacy activities of medical examination and treatment facilities. Up to now, most localities have had plans to organize the implementation of Decree 131 of the Government and clinical pharmacy work at medical facilities is increasingly receiving attention because doing well these activities has direct and indirect significance, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at hospitals.
However, inappropriate use of antibiotics in healthcare settings is still widespread. Antibiotic resistance is one of the most pressing public health threats. If people do not use antibiotics properly, everyone will suffer the consequences.
Therefore, ensuring antibiotic management in facilities is necessary and urgent. The only way to treat infectious diseases is to manage and use antibiotics safely and effectively.
