According to epidemiological investigation, in early July 2024, these two children both had symptoms of severe coughing, so their family members took them to the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for treatment. After that, the family continued to take the patient to Da Nang Obstetrics and Children's Hospital, where, suspecting the patient had whooping cough, the hospital took a sample and sent it for testing. As a result, on July 16, the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang announced that both children tested positive for the bacteria that causes whooping cough.
After detecting a case of whooping cough, the Quang Ngai City Health Center requested agencies and units to quickly spray disinfectant chemicals and treat the environment and objects in houses with pertussis cases and other health facilities. households in close contact with the patient.
Currently, after review, Quang Ngai City Medical Center has determined that there are 7 people in close contact with the patient PTT and 17 people in close contact with the patient D.GP. All of these people have not shown any signs of illness. whooping cough and has been taking prophylactic antibiotics for 7 days, and continues to be monitored for health for 3 weeks.
