On May 5, Hoang Anh Gia Lai University Medical Center Hospital received and successfully resuscitated a case of acute myocardial infarction in a fairly young patient with a history of large-scale smoking for a long time.
Accordingly, patient N.D. T. (born in 1992, residing in Thong Nhat, Gia Lai) was admitted to the hospital in a state of severe chest pain, originating about 3 hours earlier, accompanied by sweating and dizziness. The pain lasted for more than 1 hour without reducing, so the family quickly took her to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Notably, patients have a habit of smoking up to 3 packs of cigarettes per day for many years, which is a high risk factor leading to dangerous cardiovascular diseases.
Immediately upon admission, doctors urgently examined, performed necessary tests and determined that the patient had acute myocardial infarction, a condition that could be life-threatening if not intervened in time.
The patient was immediately activated for cardiovascular emergency procedures and transferred to the endovascular intervention room. After more than 1 hour, the team successfully performed coronary angiography and intervention procedures, reopening the right coronary artery branch (RCA3), helping to restore blood flow to nourish the heart.
Currently, the patient's health has stabilized and is being monitored and treated at the hospital.
According to doctors, myocardial infarction is trending towards rejuvenation, in which smoking is one of the leading risk factors. Smoking with high and prolonged frequency can cause atherosclerosis, coronary artery stenosis, leading to serious cardiovascular events.
