Accordingly, from April 30 to May 3, 2026, medical examination and treatment activities at the hospital recorded many notable changes. Although the number of emergency cases generally decreased slightly compared to the same period last year, some types of accidents tended to increase, especially domestic accidents.

According to statistics, on average, the hospital receives about 272 emergency patients per day (ranging from 240 to 290 cases/day). The total number of patients related to traffic accidents during the 4-day holiday is 154 cases, an average of 39 cases/day, down 20.1% compared to 2025. This is considered a positive sign in the context of increased travel demand during the holidays.
However, domestic accidents increased sharply with 49 cases, an average of 12 cases/day, an increase of 42.4%. In addition, injuries recorded 21 cases, poisoning 13 cases and 2 suicides.

Representatives of Cho Ray Hospital also added about surgical activities, during the 4-day holiday, the hospital performed 137 emergency surgeries, down 21.8% compared to the same period last year. Surgeries are mainly concentrated in specialties such as gastrointestinal surgery, neurology and orthopedic trauma.
In the inpatient treatment segment, the number of patients still hospitalized until the morning of May 4 was 1,895 people, an increase of 9.9% compared to the previous year. During the holiday, the hospital received 1,010 admissions (an average of 253 cases/day) and discharged 884 cases.
The hospital's total bed occupancy rate reached 75.8%, of which some departments fell into overload such as neurology, neurosurgery and endocrinology, with occupancy rates exceeding 100%.

For the blood source for treatment, a total of 439 units of blood were used in 4 days, down 20.8% compared to the same period last year. Currently, the hospital's blood bank still maintains a stable reserve level of 6,920 units.

In general, the medical picture during this year's holiday shows positive changes in some areas such as traffic accidents and the need for emergency surgery. However, the increase in domestic accidents and inpatient pressure are still issues that need to be concerned about in the coming time," a hospital representative added.
