On June 13, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) sent a document to the Departments of Health, Food Safety Departments and Sub-Departments of Food Safety and Hygiene of provinces and cities on warning and recalling Allernova AR infant formula products manufactured by Laboratoires Novalac.
According to information from the French Ministry of Health announced on June 12, 2026, the manufacturer has voluntarily recalled the Allernova AR infant formula product of batch number 183403 after recording many complaints about side effects related to the digestive system in infants.
Specifically, the French Anses nutrition monitoring system has received 11 reports of symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and other digestive disorders in infants using this product. In addition, another case was also recorded through the SignalConso consumer feedback system. All cases are related to the same product batch.
Among the affected children, one was hospitalized after tests found Adenovirus in a stool sample. This is a virus that can cause gastroenteritis and usually does not transmit through breast milk. French authorities also confirmed that the incident is not related to recent international warnings about cereulide toxin in infant formula.
To ensure health safety for consumers, the Food Safety Department requests local functional agencies to urgently review the registration of the declaration or self-declaration for the Allernova AR product manufactured by Laboratoires Novalac.
At the same time, units need to work with enterprises that announce products (if any), request to notify distributors and consumers to stop using products, and organize recalls according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Enterprises must also report the quantity of products that have been imported and sold on the market and the amount of goods still in stock, and propose measures to handle batches of products subject to recall.
The Food Safety Department also proposed to strengthen propaganda to let consumers know and not continue to use batches of Allernova AR infant formula products that are in the warning area.
The results of the review and handling must be reported by localities to the Food Safety Department before June 20, 2026.
The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) also proposed to remove and stop trading the Allernova AR milk batch on e-commerce platforms. This unit has sent a document to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), requesting coordination to control and stop trading the Allernova AR infant formula product of batch number 183403 manufactured by Laboratoires Novalac if this product is in circulation in Vietnam.
To ensure consumer health safety, the Food Safety Department requests the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy to notify e-commerce platforms, sales websites and online business booths to coordinate with booth owners and distributors to review and stop trading batches of products subject to recall if they are present in the Vietnamese market.
In addition, relevant units are required to remove promotional information and product introductions that do not ensure quality and implement handling measures according to the provisions of law if violations are detected.
