Faced with the situation of handmade cosmetics and home-made cosmetics being widely advertised on social networks and e-commerce platforms, the Ministry of Health has just issued an official dispatch requesting to strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations to protect the health of consumers.
According to the Department of Drug Administration (Ministry of Health), recently, the production and advertising of cosmetics of unknown origin, unreported products, and unsafe and quality have been popular on platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, YouTube and e-commerce platforms.
In order to tighten management, the Ministry of Health requires the Departments of Health of provinces and centrally run cities to step up inspection and examination of cosmetic production, trading and advertising activities in the area. Special attention should be paid to cases of home-made cosmetics businesses that do not have a certificate of production eligibility, have not been granted a receipt number for product declaration forms or advertisements with equivalent functions.
The Departments of Health are also assigned the task of propagating and instructing individuals and organizations to comply with legal regulations; only use legal cosmetics, do not buy and sell homemade products that pose a potential risk to health.
Along with that, the Ministry of Health recommends that social networking platforms and e-commerce platforms proactively review and remove content advertising cosmetics that violate the law. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen content censorship, only allowing advertising for products of clear origin, licensed according to regulations.
Platforms must also coordinate with authorities when required, provide information on violating accounts, and build a warning mechanism, strictly handle channels that continuously post illegal advertisements.
This strong move is expected to help protect consumers from the risk of poor quality cosmetic products, while restoring order in cosmetic business and advertising activities online.
