On February 12, news from Ninh Thuan General Hospital said that it had just received and successfully saved a case of acute myocardial infarction that occurred while playing sports in a very young patient.
The patient is Mr. H. (32 years old, residing in Ninh Phuoc commune, Khanh Hoa province), who was taken to the hospital in a state of fainting and collapsing while playing football.
According to information from the hospital, Mr. H. used to play football regularly but stopped training for about a year, and recently returned to exercise.
Before playing, the patient had a slight warm-up, but during the competition, symptoms of chest pain, dizziness and loss of consciousness suddenly appeared.
Immediately after that, the patient was taken to Ninh Thuan General Hospital for emergency treatment.
After being hospitalized, the patient was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and quickly transferred to the cardiology intervention room.
Doctors promptly placed a stent to re-circulate the coronary artery. After intervention, the patient's condition stabilized and continued to be monitored and treated at the Interventional Cardiology Department.
Doctors assessed that this is a case where the patient is very young, without a history of cardiovascular disease or underlying medical conditions.
This case shows that myocardial infarction not only occurs in the elderly but can also occur in young people, who seem completely healthy.
Doctors recommend that young people should not be subjective about cardiovascular diseases and not ignore warning signs such as chest pain, shortness of breath, abnormal fatigue, dizziness...
Delays in emergency care can lead to serious complications, even life-threatening.
Especially, for those who return to training after a long period of interruption, it is necessary to have periodic health check-ups to choose a sport and training intensity suitable for their physical condition.
