On May 26, the Ministry of Health informed about the COVID-19 epidemic situation at home and abroad.
As of May 25, 2025, the world recorded more than 777 million cases and more than 7 million deaths. Some Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand have recorded an increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations, but are still under control.
The LP.8.1 strain is gradually being replaced by NB.1.8.1 a new strain with higher spread capacity, currently accounting for 10.7% of global cases of gene-scrutinization in mid-May. However, these variants have not shown any evidence of causing more serious illness and the WHO has not issued a new warning.

The number of cases tends to increase slightly in the last 3 weeks but have not recorded concentrated outbreaks.

The Ministry of Health believes that the risk of epidemics will increase during the summer due to the need for travel, tourism, and large gatherings. However, the possibility of severe cases is low because the current manifestations have not caused more serious symptoms.
In response to the developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Health has coordinated with WHO and relevant units to deploy a series of epidemic prevention and control measures:
Strengthen supervision in the community and medical facilities, coordinate testing and risk assessment; continue to implement the sustainable control plan until 2025.
Review and update admission and treatment plans; ensure facilities, medical supplies and guide patients to implement epidemic prevention measures.
Proactively prevent infections in hospitals, especially in high-risk areas; increase environmental sanitation, arrange appropriate departments.
Strengthen communication, coordinate with sectors to build appropriate epidemic prevention messages for each locality.
Guiding public places, tourism, and entertainment to implement disease prevention recommendations.
Training to improve the capacity of health workers; strictly implement the disease reporting and declaration regime according to regulations.
The Ministry of Health recommends that people:
Wearing a mask in public places, medical facilities, and on vehicles.
Limit large gatherings if not necessary.
Wash your hands regularly with soap or antibacterial solution.
Maintain exercise and eat properly.
When you have symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, you should go to the nearest medical facility for examination.
