On August 26, the Department of Health of Kon Tum province said that it had just requested grassroots medical facilities to strengthen prevention and control of dengue hemorrhagic fever, to prevent the epidemic from breaking out and spreading.
As of the first half of August 2024, in Kon Tum province, 8/10 districts and cities recorded cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever, with 229 cases/74 outbreaks.
Among them, the highest number is Kon Ray district with 134 cases, followed by Kon Tum city with 36 cases, Dak Ha with 20 cases, Kon Plong with 13 cases, Dak To with 10 cases, Sa Thay with 8 cases, Dak Glei with 4 cases, and Ngoc Hoi. 4 cases.
The Kon Tum Department of Health warns that it is currently the rainy season, combined with hot and humid weather, which is a favorable time for mosquitoes to transmit dengue hemorrhagic fever.
Therefore, the number of dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in Kon Tum province will continue to increase rapidly in the coming time. Expected to peak in August, September, October 2024.
Kon Tum Department of Health requires affiliated units to proactively monitor the epidemic situation, early detect disease cases to localize, isolate and treat promptly.
Medical staff sprayed chemicals to treat dengue hemorrhagic fever outbreaks, promptly controlled the disease from spreading, and minimized morbidity and mortality rates.
Grassroots health care also focuses on monitoring and assessing mosquito and larvae/larva density indexes in localities, and organizes large-scale chemical spraying when high-risk factors exist.
In cases where the response capacity is beyond capacity, units report to the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control for supportive measures.
