Nutrition experts warn that most milk tea belongs to the group of sugary drinks, which can have long-term effects on health if consumption is not controlled.
According to research published in the Journal of Endocrinology Nature (USA), sugary drinks are closely related to weight gain, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Similarly, an international study summary also shows that regular consumption of sugary drinks increases the risk of death and metabolic diseases.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Frank Hu - Harvard School of Public Health (USA) - emphasized that: Cutting down on sugary drinks is one of the most important changes to protect cardiovascular health and control weight.
Faced with that reality, experts give some simple but effective tips. First of all, you should reduce the frequency of drinking milk tea, you should not use it daily but should only consider it as a "reward" drink. When ordering, you can choose less sugar, less toppings to limit the amount of calories consumed into the body. Besides, priority should be given to filtered water, sugar-free tea or natural fruit juice instead.
Young people should also pay attention to the total amount of sugar in the day. According to nutritional recommendations, free sugar levels should be controlled at a low level to reduce the risk of disease. Maintaining a balanced diet, combined with physical exercise, will help limit the negative impact from sweet drinks.
