Accordingly, at about 2 am on April 21, patient N.T. R (35 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) suffered a serious labor accident while working with a meat grinder at Binh Dien market, Ho Chi Minh City. While losing concentration, Ms. R's right hand was caught in the meat grinder. After the accident, the patient was taken to Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Trauma Hospital at about 4:30 am on the same day, in a state where her hand was still stuck in the machine.
According to the patient's sharing, while working, the glove was caught in the machine, pulling the hand inside, causing serious damage.
Immediately after receiving the patient, the emergency team quickly took the patient to the emergency operating room. Anesthesiologists, orthopedics and nurses coordinated to disassemble the meat grinder to release the hand, making maximum efforts to preserve the injured limb.
BS.CKI Nguyen Luu Hoang Hung, Department of Emergency, Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, said that due to the hand being seriously crushed, all fingers II, III, IV, V and hand bones were heavily damaged, the team was forced to remove these fingers at the hand and toe joints. The patient only kept the thumb.
Regarding the above incident, BS.CKII Vo Hoa Khanh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, warned that workers working with industrial machinery, grinders, and stampers need to strictly comply with labor safety regulations. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain concentration in the working process, avoid being subjective even with familiar jobs to limit unfortunate accidents.
