On November 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health informed about the illegal act that caused the death of a patient in a boarding house near the Oncology Hospital, Branch 2 (Thu Duc City).
Previously, on November 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health received a quick report from Le Van Viet Hospital about a patient who died before being admitted to the hospital, suspected of anaphylactic shock, at address 17, 225B Street, Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City.
The City Department of Health deployed a working group to coordinate with relevant units to inspect this address and a working group at Le Van Viet Hospital.
The inspection team noted that the house at 17-19, 225B Street, Tan Phu Ward, Thu Duc City had no signboard or address. Inside the house, there was a row of rooms used as a boarding house for cancer patients.
According to a report from Le Van Viet Hospital, upon receiving a call via hotline 115, the emergency team from the hospital's satellite emergency station approached the scene where the patient needed emergency care. The team noted that the patient was lying on a stretcher in a room at this address.
The patient was cyanotic, had cardiac arrest, stopped breathing, dilated pupils, was being monitored on a monitor, was receiving IV fluids, and had 3 surgical wounds on the front of the neck, back, and right thigh.
There were many people at the scene, including 2 people wearing medical clothes standing next to the patient. A man said that the patient was injected with Pegcyte 6mg/0.6ml subcutaneously, after 5 minutes he became drowsy so he contacted the 115 Emergency Center.
The emergency team discovered that there were two patients in this room receiving an unknown type of IV. However, at the time of inspection, the team noted signs of dispersal, with no stretchers, tools, or medical equipment left inside the room.
Currently, the Thu Duc City Police Investigation Agency is handling and resolving the case, related to individuals who performed medical examination and treatment for patients. At the same time, they are conducting verification, clarifying and strictly handling according to the law.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requested the Oncology Hospital to strengthen its consulting and communication solutions so that patients from far away who come to the hospital for examination and treatment do not feel "lonely" and are easily deceived by bad guys.
Localities need to pay attention to, increase inspection, detection and handling of individuals who take advantage of patients' circumstances to commit illegal acts in the area surrounding the hospital.
