Bacterial vaginosis
According to Dr. Manisha Ranja, if your period blood smells like dead fish, you may have an infection in your body or bacterial vaginosis. This infection is usually treated with antibiotics. The reason why your period blood smells like dead fish is because bacteria mixed with blood react with the iron content in the blood and cause a foul odor.

Always keep your private area clean before, during, and after your period. You should wipe from front to back and not douche deep inside your vagina.
