Mr. Trinh Thanh Tinh rents a room in the Le Thanh Nghi area, Bach Khoa ward (Hanoi) to facilitate making a living. The small room of the couple is always damp, surrounded by many bottles and water-stained items, creating conditions for mosquitoes and diamonds to breed.
What worries Mr. Tinh is that last year, his wife contracted dengue fever and had to be hospitalized for 14 days due to severe thrombocytopenia. However, because the rent is cheap and there is space to boil corn and cook water for sales, the family still has to continue to be attached to this rented area.

Mosquitoes are very abundant in this rented area because it is humid all year round. Last year, my wife had dengue fever and had to stay in the hospital for 14 days. Worrying is very worrying, but for livelihood, only cheap rented rooms like this are suitable for the family's economic conditions," Mr. Tinh shared.
Also living for many years in Le Thanh Nghi boarding house, Mr. Hoang Van Phong said that mosquitoes and insects appear all year round due to the humid environment. His family regularly cleans the boarding house, removes items containing stagnant water and sprays mosquito repellent, but this situation has not been significantly improved.
Hearing information that the dengue fever epidemic is increasing, my family also proactively cleaned up, discharged stagnant water and bought medicine to spray. However, it only reduced somewhat, there are still many mosquitoes," Mr. Phong said.

According to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control, in the week from July 24 to July 31, the whole city recorded 268 cases of COVID-19 in 89 communes and wards and detected 10 new dengue fever outbreaks. Before this development, the health sector recommends that people proactively kill larvae and pupae, remove items containing stagnant water, maintain environmental hygiene and implement disease prevention measures to limit the risk of epidemic outbreaks.
To prevent dengue fever, Dr. Tran Thuy Duong, Head of the Medical Department of VNVC Truong Chinh (Hanoi), recommends that people should get vaccinated, cover water containers tightly to prevent Aedes mosquitoes from breeding. In addition, it is necessary to maintain a reasonable diet, exercise and sleep under mosquito nets both day and night to reduce the risk of disease.
