According to HCDC, in week 30 (from July 21-27), the city recorded a continued high number of dengue fever cases, showing an increased risk of epidemics during the rainy season and the time of preparing to enter the new school year.
In week 30, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 995 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 20% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of dengue fever cases accumulated from the beginning of 2026 to week 30 is 23,481 cases. Wards and communes with a high number of dengue fever cases per 10,000 people include An Nhon Tay, Chanh Phu Hoa and Ngai Giao.
To maximize epidemic prevention and control, in recent weeks many wards in Ho Chi Minh City have launched widespread mosquito spraying in their managed areas.
According to epidemiological surveillance data, from June 2026 to now, Phuoc Hoa commune has recorded 57 cases of dengue fever. Phuoc Hoa Commune Health Station has urgently coordinated with local authorities to organize epidemiological investigations, handle outbreaks and deploy chemical spraying to kill mosquitoes in areas with cases on July 27, 28, and 29, 2026.
Chemical spraying activities are deployed synchronously, maintained 2-3 times per week to thoroughly treat the outbreak and limit the risk of spreading in the community. Thanks to doing a good job of preparation and prior information to the people, most households are actively coordinating, creating favorable conditions for the outbreak treatment.
At the same time, the health force strengthens supervision and guides people to implement environmental sanitation and kill larvae in households.
To prevent dengue fever, people need to continue to implement measures according to the recommendations of the health sector. Implement disease prevention measures, especially killing larvae, removing mosquito breeding sites and maintaining personal hygiene for young children," a representative of HCDC HCMC warned.
