Patient L. (5 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) was admitted to the hospital in an extremely critical condition: second-degree burns on up to 80% of the body, including the head, face, neck, torso, limbs and genitals. Her hands and feet changed color from white to gray, with a pale white bottom, bleeding, peeling skin in many places, dirty burns, and a lot of charcoal dust. The child also suffered from respiratory burns, multiple sclerosis, stiff whole body, black toes, pulse 175 times/minute, had to use a ventilator, was constantly compensated for shock absorption and experienced life-and-death moments every day.
At the City Children's Hospital, after receiving intensive treatment in the Department of Surgery, the patient was transferred to the Department of Orthopedic Trauma - burns - Shaping for further treatment.
The 96-day journey of treatment was a long, arduous journey. The wounds were cared for with high-quality biological equipment, the duodenal culverts were removed, skin was grafted from the intestines, vein nutrition was provided, and nourished through the stomach canal.
For the past 96 days, when the burns gradually healed, the child had a psychological examination and physical therapy to avoid the scar contracting.
According to Nurses Thanh Truc - Head of the Orthopedic Trauma - burns - Shaping Department, City Children's Hospital, the child is still haunted. When starting physical therapy, the child was in pain because of the stiff scars, but still tried, showing the extraordinary will to live of a 5-year-old boy.
It is known that after the accident, the baby's family, including his father, mother, and sister, were all unlucky and did not survive, only the baby was lucky to overcome the critical stage and recover his health.
