On the same morning, Mr. N.V.H. (71 years old, Tan Thanh village, Ia Lau commune, Gia Lai province) came to Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital for a re-examination and received medicine as scheduled.
While waiting to get medicine, he had breakfast at the hospital canteen. After eating, he took medicine to drink but accidentally swallowed the whole pill with the original packaging.
Immediately after that, he felt a burning pain in his throat and quickly discovered that he had swallowed the wrong pill with the original packaging. He and his wife immediately returned to the clinic for examination by doctors.
After examination, he was prescribed emergency gastroscopy by the doctor to remove the foreign object. However, because the patient had just had breakfast, the pill quickly dripped down the stomach and mixed with food, making it more difficult to find and remove the foreign object.
