Babita Ahirwar, 21, underwent a cesarean section at a hospital in India on November 23, according to Mirror.
Doctors said that the twins have the same heart, but have two separate ends. The third arm of the twin brothers has two palms.
The young mother and her husband Jaswant Ahirwar told a news agency: "It was a mixed feeling when the nurses gave me the baby. At first, I thought it was a pair of twins, but when the nurses took off the towel, I was shocked to see our first child with two heads and three arms."
The pair of twins attached to two heads, one body and three arms are called parapagus tribrachius. This is an extremely rare case and the survival rate is very low.
Obstetrician Surendra Sonkar at Vidisha Sadar Hospital said: "The two have only one heart. This is a very rare case and the first time I have seen it in my career".
The twin brothers were then transferred to Hamidi Medical University Hospital, Bhopal city.
"We initially kept the baby in the intensive care unit, but we thought it was better to take him to a better- equipped facility in Bhopal," said Dr. Sonkar.
