Lifestyle causes kidney disease to get younger
At the launching ceremony of Vantive Vietnam Healthcare on October 11, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Khanh - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Nephrology and Nephrology - said that currently, the situation of patients with kidney failure is getting younger, the number of people who need to have blood filter is increasing, it is worth mentioning that most of them detect the disease when it is in the final stage.
At the Neurological and Blood Clotting Center - Bach Mai Hospital, about 30-40 new patients are admitted every day, of which many people under 30 years old - the age of majority are the main breadwinner.
Patient H (30 years old, in Hanoi) only detected the disease when examined periodically and found urinary protein. After a few years of treatment, he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure with kidney function below 10%. I chose the artificial kidney method and am waiting to have a hand bridge to filter my blood periodically, before considering a kidney transplant, said H.
"In regulating eating habits and activities is making chronic kidney failure more common, especially in young people. The reason why many patients under 30 years old have to have blood filtered or have kidney transplants. Many patients who are only 15-16 years old have had to have dialysis," warned Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Khanh.
The cause of chronic kidney disease is not only due to medical factors but also due to unscientific modern lifestyles. Young people today consume a lot of fast food, drinks of unknown origin, eat salty foods, sleep late, and lack exercise, leading to obesity - this is a risk factor for metabolic diseases, including kidney disease.
Expanding the trend of approaching chronic kidney treatment
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Khanh emphasized the importance of expanding access to chronic kidney treatment, especially the abdominal filter method - a trend of modern kidney care that is being encouraged in the world.
Chronic kidney disease is currently a global health challenge, in which Vietnam is not out of the trend. The number of patients with end-stage renal failure is increasing, while access to renal replacement treatments is still limited by many factors such as cost, facilities, human resources and community awareness.

Currently, people with end-stage chronic kidney disease have three main treatment options: kidney transplantation, dialysis and abdominal filtering. Optimal kidney transplantation is expensive, dialysis is popular but depends on the hospital, and the abdominal filter is more flexible - but no matter the choice, the patient still has to carry the burden of treatment for life.
Back fluid allows patients to self-treat at home, take the initiative of time and maintain a normal life, bringing freedom and a better quality of life - Associate Professor, Dr. Khanh emphasized.
He believes that the appearance of Vantive is of great significance when bringing advanced treatment technology and expanding access to modern therapy for Vietnamese patients. At the same time, he believes that with the support of Vantive, more and more patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease will live healthier and more fully.
Ms. Tran Thuy Duong - General Director of Vantive Vietnam Healthcare - said that the company is promoting innovation, applying technology and medical training to improve treatment quality, prolonging the life of patients.
