On October 26, in Hanoi, the Digestive - Hepatobiliary Center, Bach Mai Hospital organized a workshop on "Interventional ultrasound endoscopy in gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary diseases 2024".
The workshop was attended by Professor Marc Barthet, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, North Marseille Hospital, France; experts with many years of experience in researching and treating digestive diseases, and prestigious reporters from the Department of Gastroenterology, Bach Mai Hospital.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital - said that in the field of digestion, pancreaticobiliary diseases are increasingly common. Nowadays, doctors can practice specialized techniques under the guidance of endoscopic ultrasound such as placing biliary-intestinal stents, intervening in removing pancreatic necrosis to treat pancreatitis, pancreatic stones, common bile duct stones, etc.
Bach Mai Hospital is not only the largest public general hospital in the country, with highly developed specialties in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, but also a Center for Training, Scientific Research and International Cooperation. The French Republic is an important partner, having assisted Bach Mai Hospital in many areas, from facilities, equipment to human resource training and research cooperation, including gastroenterology and endoscopy. This workshop will contribute to improving specialized techniques in gastrointestinal interventional endoscopy, applying them to diagnosis and optimal treatment for patients.
At the workshop, the guests listened to the presentation on techniques and results of common bile duct drainage into the duodenum, intrahepatic bile duct drainage into the stomach under endoscopic ultrasound guidance and endoscopic ultrasound interventional gastrojejunostomy in patients with duodenal stenosis; Endoscopic interventional management of pancreatic necrosis: From theory to practice by Professor Marc Barthet, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, North Marseillel Hospital, France.
In addition, MSc. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nam (Digestive - Hepatobiliary Center, Bach Mai Hospital) also reported "Evaluation of treatment results of ampullary tumors of Vater by interventional endoscopy" with the conclusion: Ampullary tumors of Vater are rare but have a good prognosis if detected early. In clinical practice, treatment should be individualized, with a combination of endoscopists, radiologists, pathologists and surgeons in diagnosis and treatment planning. Regular monitoring is very important in detecting recurrence.
