On January 22, information from Thuan My ITO Dong Nai Hospital said that it had received and successfully treated a male patient (72 years old, residing in Thong Nhat district) with a stone measuring up to 11cm x 8cm, this is the largest case of bladder stone ever recorded at the hospital.
Previously, this patient was hospitalized with difficulty urinating, had to urinate for a long time, and even had to sit down to urinate because he could not urinate standing up.
After examination, the patient was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder neck stenosis leading to bladder stones causing lower urinary tract symptoms, the stone was 11cm x 8cm in size.
The hospital's medical team then performed a 2-hour surgery using a "2 in 1" combination method, both laparoscopic and minimally invasive. The patient recovered quickly, had good urination, and was discharged after 5 days of treatment and postoperative monitoring.
Through this case, doctors recommend that people proactively have regular check-ups, especially when unusual symptoms appear, to detect early and promptly treat dangerous urological diseases.
