On September 8, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province informed that dengue fever is still complicated in the area.
The whole province has had more than 2,800 cases of infection since the beginning of the year. Of which, 1 case has died (in Buon Ma Thuot city).
The localities with the most infections are Buon Ma Thuot city, Cu M'Gar district, Krong Pak... On September 6 alone, the whole province recorded more than 50 cases of infection.
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of CDC Dak Lak province - confirmed that Dengue fever is an annual disease in the province.
From 2016 to 2023, the province had tens of thousands of infections, with about 20 deaths. It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, the epidemic situation will continue to be unpredictable, and the number of infections may still increase.
"In that context, some localities have not received strong direction from authorities at all levels regarding disease prevention work.
"The response to information and investigation and handling of some dengue fever cases/outbreaks were not timely. The supervision of handling was not done well in some units," Mr. Phuc added.
After recording the first death from dengue fever in Thanh Cong ward, Dak Lak CDC coordinated with the City Health Center to inspect the actual situation at the outbreak areas to promptly investigate, isolate, suppress the epidemic and guide people on disease prevention.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Son, an officer at Buon Ma Thuot City Medical Center, said that currently, the work of preventing and controlling dengue fever in the area is still facing many difficulties.
People are still subjective, negligent, and underestimate the epidemic, and implicitly assume that fighting the epidemic is the responsibility of the health sector.
Most people's awareness of dengue fever prevention has not been raised.
In people's gardens, there are still damaged household items filled with stagnant water and inside are nests of mosquito larvae living.
Some families leave water jars without lids, so they become places for mosquitoes to lay eggs and larvae to live.
