Patients are more relaxed, sleep deeper, and feel more optimistic
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, there are currently nearly 15 million Vietnamese people " struggling" with 1 of the 10 common mental disorders. The increase in mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, and stress disorders, is becoming one of the leading health burdens of the country. Worryingly, stress is getting younger as young people, people of schooling and working age are experiencing this condition.
In that context, "healing music" is increasingly sought after by many people as a spiritual therapy, helping them find peace.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Director of Ha Dong Traditional Medicine Hospital - an expert in sleep medicine shared: In traditional medicine, humans are considered a united body between the body, mind and spirit. When the spirit is unrestful, blood circulation is disrupted, disease will arise.
On the contrary, when the soul is at peace, the body is also healthy. And sound in traditional medicine is considered an invisible but effective medicine.
"For thousands of years, our ancestors have used the pentatonic music in ancient music to regulate the heart, associated with the principle of am am am dung ung com. Each sound is not only for enjoyment, but also a resonance therapy to help regulate organs and emotions" - Associate Professor Minh said.
sound not only enters the ears, but also affects the entire body: In the nervous system, sound helps relieve stress, regulate heart rate, and breathing.
On the blood, it helps circulation, reduces muscle stiffness, and puts the body in a state of relaxation.
In the mind, the sound leads the mind from movement to calmness, like when meditating.
Nowadays, in health care, sound is increasingly applied.
At the launching event of the sound and music project to care for mental health Sound Healing World, Associate Professor Nguyen Duc Minh shared at the Traditional Medicine Hospital that doctors are gradually applying sound therapy such as combining acupuncture, massage, acupressure with music therapy to increase pain relief and sedation.
Using meditation music, bell tones, drums, and water tones in support of the treatment of sleep disorders, stress, and depression. instruct patients to breathe in an audio-ringy breathing to exfoliate and balance the am dao.
"The results show that patients are more relaxed, sleep deeper, and feel more optimistic" - Associate Professor Minh said.

Bringing audio-terapeutic therapy closer to the public
According to experts, sound and vibration frequencies are increasingly becoming a sleep-supporting therapy, helping to balance the spirit in a stressful modern life. Himalaya rotating bell therapy appeared in Vietnam about 10 years ago, and has been persistently practiced and developed by therapists.
The main tools are singing bowls - manual rotating bells originating from the Himalaya - creating sound and vibration to help the body relax and regulate from within. This method is currently popular in many countries such as Germany, the US, Canada, Australia, India, China, Thailand, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Duy, Founder of OM Himalayas - a pioneer in bringing this therapy to many provinces and cities in Vietnam, said that 2025 will mark 10 years of rotating bell therapy in Vietnam. This unit hopes to build a mental health care model not only through sound but also through music.
Since 2023, more than 20 "S still journey" programs have reached thousands of people, affirming the effectiveness of sound and music as a "medicine" for health. From that platform, Sound Healing World developed the "Sound Healing Concert" project, bringing therapeutic sound closer to the public.
Legendary Zen poet Ani Choying Drolma, from Nepal, once said: "My music is not simply for entertainment, but is a medicine to nurture spiritual life, bringing peace and quiet from within".
