On June 16, Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that it had the results of investigation and verification of a suspected food poisoning case related to Lam Huyen business household (Lam Huyen Banh Mi), at address No. 252 Hung Vuong, Quy Nhon Dong ward.
Previously, on May 24, the Department of Health received information that many people had symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever after eating bread at Lam Huyen facility. These cases were treated at many medical examination and treatment facilities in the area.
At the time of inspection, the owner of N.D. H. L facility was also being treated for food poisoning at Hoa Binh Hospital.
Through verification, on May 22, Lam Huyen Bread establishment sold about 200 loaves of bread of all kinds.
Summary from medical facilities recorded 124 cases of suspected food poisoning symptoms after using bread products of Lam Huyen business household. To date, all patients have stabilized their health and been discharged from the hospital.

To determine the cause of the incident, the health sector took 30 specimens for testing. The results showed that 7 samples were positive for Salmonella spp. bacteria - an agent that often causes intestinal food poisoning.
Through a surprise inspection of Lam Huyen business household, the inter-sectoral inspection team discovered that the facility did not have a certificate of eligibility for food safety; processing staff had not been trained in food safety knowledge; processing and storage conditions were not hygienic; using raw materials of unknown origin.
3 food samples including cha da, pate and gio thu were sent for testing, the results showed that the gio thu sample had a total number of aerobic microorganisms exceeding the maximum permissible limit, not ensuring food safety for microbial indicators in meat and meat products.
From the investigation results, functional agencies determined that the case was related to meat sandwiches provided by Lam Huyen business household.
However, because there are no more food samples that cases have used for testing, there is not enough basis to accurately determine the type of food causing poisoning as well as the cause of poisoning according to professional regulations.
Currently, functional agencies are completing the dossier for handling according to legal regulations.
Previously, on the morning of May 25, Gia Lai Provincial Central General Hospital received dozens of cases suspected of food poisoning. Patients were hospitalized from the evening of May 23 to 24 with symptoms of fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
At the Department of Infectious Diseases, many patients are still in a state of fatigue, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Ms. N.T. T. D (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 1, Quy Nhon Dong ward) said that on the morning of May 22, she bought bread at Lam Huyen shop for the whole family to have breakfast. In the evening of the same day, 4 family members showed symptoms of vomiting, fever and diarrhea.
