On May 26, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - chaired a meeting to handle a suspected food poisoning case that occurred at Lam Huyen bread business household (address 252 Hung Vuong street, Quy Nhon Dong ward).
According to reports, the incident was recorded from the afternoon of May 22, when many people showed symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, fever and headache after eating bread at this establishment.

By 6 am on May 26, the total number of patients hospitalized related to the incident was 89 cases. Among them, 10 people have been discharged from the hospital, no deaths have been recorded. Currently, most patients have stable health, and symptoms are gradually decreasing.
After the incident occurred, the Provincial Sub-Department of Food Safety and Hygiene coordinated with relevant units to investigate, verify, review patients at medical facilities, investigate epidemiological factors, trace food origin and take samples for testing. At the same time, inspect food safety conditions at the above facility.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh emphasized that 2026 is the National Tourism Year hosted by Gia Lai, so localities identify the goal of building a green, clean, beautiful, and friendly destination image; especially, it is necessary to attach importance to ensuring food safety for people and tourists.
He requested the health sector to focus manpower, equipment, and medicine to treat and care for patients in the best way, helping them stabilize and be discharged from the hospital soon.

Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee directed functional sectors and local authorities to urgently investigate and determine the cause of the incident this week.
If the cause originates from objective factors such as hot weather causing spoiled and damaged food, appropriate management and remedial solutions are needed.
If intentional acts of using chemicals, additives or substances that do not ensure food safety causing poisoning are detected, they must be transferred to the police agency for strict handling according to regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh affirmed that the viewpoint is to resolutely strictly handle organizations and individuals violating food safety and hygiene, not allowing dirty food to affect community health and the local tourism environment.

As Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the morning of May 25th, Gia Lai Provincial Central General Hospital said it had received 39 cases suspected of food poisoning. Patients were hospitalized from the evening of May 23rd to 24th with symptoms of fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea...
Recorded at the Department of Infectious Diseases, many patients are still tired, have abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Ms. N.T. T. D (born in 1981, residing in Quarter 1, Quy Nhon Dong ward) said that on the morning of May 22, she bought bread at Lam Huyen shop for the whole family to have breakfast. By the evening of the same day, all 4 family members showed symptoms of vomiting, fever and diarrhea.
Treating in the same department, Ms. N.C.L (born in 1996, residing in Hoa Lac village, Cat Tien commune) said that the whole family of 7 people after eating bread at Lam Huyen shop all developed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting and had to be hospitalized for treatment, including 4 young children.
As of 2 pm on May 25, 75 cases were recorded hospitalized for treatment related to suspected food poisoning after eating bread at Lam Huyen shop, including Ms. N.D. H. L - owner of Lam Huyen bread shop.
