Last week, Hanoi recorded 265 cases of dengue fever, distributed in 29 districts. Some units recorded many patients such as: Dan Phuong, Ha Dong, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Phuc Tho, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay. Accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to now, the city recorded 2,549 cases of dengue fever.
During the week, 16 dengue fever outbreaks were recorded in Dan Phuong, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Ha Dong, Hai Ba Trung, and Hoang Mai. In 2024, the city recorded 120 outbreaks, with 30 still active.
According to the Hanoi CDC, the current hot weather with heavy rain is favorable for the emergence of disease-transmitting mosquitoes; the number of recorded dengue fever cases tends to increase, some outbreaks are prolonged, and patients continue to be recorded. According to monitoring results at some outbreaks, insect indexes are still recorded at a level exceeding the risk threshold, and it is predicted that the number of cases may increase in the coming time.
Last week, the city also recorded 34 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, an increase of 7 cases compared to last week; 2 cases of whooping cough.
This week, Hanoi continues to closely monitor and promptly detect patients with infectious diseases in the community and decentralized medical facilities to grasp the epidemic situation, organize investigations, and promptly handle cases and outbreaks, preventing outbreaks from spreading.
Units strengthen communication work, provide timely and complete information on disease situations, measures to prevent some summer diseases such as: hand, foot and mouth disease, whooping cough, chickenpox, measles, rubella... and diseases transmitted from animals to humans such as: rabies, streptococcus suis...
At the same time, the health sector recommends that people proactively vaccinate their children on schedule. Units proactively monitor indicators of larvae and mosquitoes transmitting dengue fever in areas with cases, outbreaks, and high-risk areas, thereby deploying appropriate and timely response activities.
