Create sustainable livelihoods for poor people
At the end of March 2023, Ms. Giang Thi Sua, a poor household in Thuong Tan commune, received support for 1 breeding cow from the Golden Heart Charity Fund. Up to now, after more than a year of taking care of the cow, the mother has given birth to a healthy calf. Ms. Sua is happy because in just a few months the first batch of cows will be sold.
Ms. Sua said that the whole family of four only relies on corn and cassava, but before the harvest comes, they are already hungry. Thanks to the attention of the Golden Heart Social Social Fund and the local government, he was given breeding cows to stabilize and develop his life.
Nearby, Mr. Lu A Tinh was also supported with money to repair and renew fish cages on the lake bed. For Mr. Tinh, it was truly timely support for him to develop his family's economy and escape poverty. Although he has been farming fish in cages for many years, he has experienced natural disasters and epidemics that caused the fish to die, and the cages were broken and there was no money to repair them, causing the entire family of 5 to fall into poverty.
Mr. Tinh recalls that in early 2023, the local government came to his house to announce that this time the family would receive support from the Golden Heart Social Social Fund to repair and renew fish cages, creating a sustainable livelihood. Mr. Tinh was very happy, because at that time the price of fish raised in cages was increasing, traders were looking to buy but had no fish to sell because they did not have money to repair broken cages.
"At that time of hardship and need, I received support from the Golden Heart Social Social Fund. My joy was indescribable. How could a poor household like me ever be able to accumulate tens of millions to build fish cages? More than 1 year. Over the past year, the family's 5 fish cages have brought in a steady income of several million each month, the children have money to go to school, I'm very happy," Mr. Tinh said emotionally.
During the livelihood support for poor people in Thuong Tan highland commune, representatives of Lao Dong Newspaper, the agency directly managing the Fund, and the Labor Confederation of Ha Giang province donated 20 breeding cows to especially difficult families. Each breeding cow costs 15 million VND. In addition, 10 poor households in the area were given gifts worth 10 million VND to repair fish cages.
The total amount awarded this time is up to 400 million VND. These are the timely care and help of the whole society for poor people in difficult circumstances, creating livelihoods for people to sustainably escape poverty.
